Tomato Router Smart DNS Setup Guide
Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Tomato router using the built-in router admin settings.
Before You Start
Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.
Don’t have an account yet?
Choose a plan and create your UnGeo account before setting up DNS.
Get Started ›Add your current IP address
Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.
Register My IP Address ›Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Open Tomato Router Admin Panel
Open a browser on a device connected to your Tomato router and go to your router admin address. The default address is usually 192.168.1.1.
Log In to Your Router
Enter your Tomato router username and password to access the admin panel.
Open Network Settings
Go to Basic, then select Network.
Find DNS Settings
Look for Static DNS, DNS Server, or LAN Static DNS depending on your Tomato firmware version.
Change DNS Server to Manual
If your interface shows a DNS Server option, set it to Manual.
Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS servers
In the Static DNS 1 field, enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area. In the Static DNS 2 field, enter the secondary UnGeo Smart DNS server. Leave Static DNS 3 empty or set it to 0.0.0.0 if your Tomato version requires a value.
Save Your Changes
Click Save to store the new DNS settings.
Open DHCP/DNS Settings
Go to Advanced, then select DHCP/DNS.
Check DNS Options
If available, enable Use Internal DNS and disable Use received DNS with user-entered DNS so Tomato does not mix ISP DNS with your UnGeo Smart DNS servers.
Save and Restart Router
Click Save, then restart your Tomato router so the new DNS settings are applied to your network.
Restart Connected Devices
Restart the devices connected to your Tomato router so they receive the updated DNS settings.
You’re All Set!
Your Tomato router is now ready to use UnGeo Smart DNS across your home network.
