Asus Router Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Asus router using the built-in ASUSWRT settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Register My IP Address

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open Asus Router Admin Panel

Open a browser on a device connected to your Asus router and go to your router admin address.

Log In to Your Router

Enter your Asus router username and password to access the admin panel.

Open WAN Settings

In the left menu, select WAN.

Open Internet Connection

Select the Internet Connection tab.

Find WAN DNS Setting

Scroll down to the WAN DNS Setting section.

Disable Automatic DNS

Set Connect to DNS Server automatically to No. On newer ASUSWRT versions, click Assign in the DNS server section to edit DNS manually.

Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS servers

In the DNS Server 1 field, enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area. In the DNS Server 2 field, enter the secondary UnGeo Smart DNS server.

Save Your Changes

Click Apply to save the new DNS settings.

Restart Your Router

Restart your Asus router so the new DNS settings are applied to your network.

Restart Connected Devices

Restart the devices connected to your Asus router so they receive the updated DNS settings.

You’re All Set!

Your Asus router is now ready to use UnGeo Smart DNS across your home network.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

Make sure your device is connected to the Asus router. Check the router label, ASUS Router app, or your network settings to find the correct router admin address.
Open WAN → Internet Connection and scroll down to WAN DNS Setting. On newer ASUSWRT versions, the DNS field may be edited through the Assign button.
Turn off automatic DNS first. Set Connect to DNS Server automatically to No, or use Assign if your ASUSWRT version shows that option.
Restart your Asus router and reconnect your devices to the network. Some devices may keep old DNS settings until they reconnect.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the UnGeo Smart DNS servers were entered correctly.

Yes. Asus routers running ASUSWRT can use UnGeo Smart DNS by manually changing the WAN DNS servers.
Open the Asus router admin panel, go to WAN → Internet Connection, then find the WAN DNS Setting section.
