Boxee Box Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Boxee Box using the built-in network settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Register My IP Address

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open Boxee Box Settings

From the Boxee Box home screen, open Settings.

Open Location Settings

Go to General, then open Location.

Show All Feeds and Applications

Make sure Hide feeds and applications that cannot be played in your location is unchecked. If you do not see this option, skip this step.

Go to Network Settings

Go back to Settings, then open Network.

Open Network

Select Network again to view the current network configuration.

Change Configure to Manually

Under Configure, select Manually. This allows you to change the DNS server.

Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS server

In the DNS Server field, enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area.

Save Your Changes

Select Save and apply the network changes.

Restart Boxee Box

Restart your Boxee Box so the new DNS settings are applied.

You’re All Set!

Your Boxee Box is now ready to stream your favorite channels with UnGeo Smart DNS.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

Some Boxee Box software versions may not show this option. If you do not see it, skip that step and continue with Network settings.
Make sure Configure is set to Manually. Boxee Box usually allows DNS changes only after manual configuration is enabled.
Most Boxee Box setups use one DNS Server field. Enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area.
Check the Location setting and make sure Hide feeds and applications that cannot be played in your location is unchecked. Some apps may also depend on Boxee software support and availability.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the UnGeo Smart DNS server was entered correctly. Then restart Boxee Box and reopen the streaming app.
