Xiaomi Mi Box Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Xiaomi Mi Box using the built-in Android TV network settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open Xiaomi Mi Box Settings

From the Xiaomi Mi Box home screen, open Settings.

Go to Network & Internet

Select Network & Internet from the settings menu.

Select Your Active Network

Choose the Wi-Fi network your Xiaomi Mi Box is currently connected to.

Open IP Settings

Scroll down and select IP settings.

Change IP Settings to Static

Change IP settings from DHCP or Automatic to Static. This allows you to enter DNS manually.

Keep Your Current Network Details

Keep the current IP Address, Gateway, and Network Prefix Length values unchanged unless your network requires different manual settings.

Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS servers

In the DNS 1 field, enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area. If your Xiaomi Mi Box shows DNS 2, enter the secondary UnGeo Smart DNS server as well.

Save Your Changes

Select Save, Connect, or OK to apply the new network settings.

Restart Xiaomi Mi Box

Go back to Settings, open Device Preferences, select Restart, and restart your Xiaomi Mi Box.

Your Xiaomi Mi Box is now ready to stream your favorite channels with UnGeo Smart DNS.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

Open Settings → Network & Internet, then select your active Wi-Fi network first. IP settings usually appears inside the connected network details.
Change IP settings from DHCP or Automatic to Static. Xiaomi Mi Box usually shows DNS fields only after Static IP is enabled.
This is normal on Android TV devices. Keep the current network values unchanged and only replace the DNS fields with your UnGeo Smart DNS servers.
One of the manual network values may be incorrect. Switch back to DHCP, reconnect to Wi-Fi, then repeat the setup carefully.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the UnGeo Smart DNS servers were entered correctly. Then restart Xiaomi Mi Box and reopen the streaming app.
