Amazon Fire TV Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick using the built-in network settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Register My IP Address

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open Fire TV Settings

From the Fire TV home screen, open Settings.

Check Current Network Details

Go to My Fire TV, open About, then select Network. Write down your current IP Address, Gateway, and Subnet Mask or take a photo of this screen.

Go to Network

Go back to Settings and select Network.

Forget Your Wi-Fi Network

Highlight your connected Wi-Fi network, press the Menu button on your Fire TV remote, then select Forget This Network.

Select Your Wi-Fi Network Again

Choose the same Wi-Fi network from the list.

Enter Your Wi-Fi Password

Enter your Wi-Fi password, but do not connect yet.

Open Advanced Settings

Select Advanced instead of connecting automatically.

Enter IP Address

Enter a valid IP address for your home network. In most cases, you can use the same IP address you wrote down earlier.

Enter Gateway

Enter the Gateway address you wrote down from your Fire TV network details.

Enter Network Prefix Length

Enter your network prefix length. For most home networks, this is usually 24.

Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS servers

In the DNS 1 field, enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area. In the DNS 2 field, enter the secondary UnGeo Smart DNS server if your Fire TV asks for it.

Save Your Changes

Select Connect to save the manual network settings and reconnect your Fire TV.

Restart Your Amazon Fire TV

Go to Settings, open My Fire TV, and select Restart.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

Forget your Wi-Fi network first, then select the same Wi-Fi network again and enter your Wi-Fi password. The Advanced option usually appears before connecting.
This is normal. Use the same network details shown under Settings → My Fire TV → About → Network, then enter your UnGeo Smart DNS servers in the DNS fields.
One of the manual network values may be incorrect. Forget the network again, reconnect normally, write down the current network details, and repeat the setup carefully.
Yes, but the menu may be different. If you use a Fire TV Ethernet adapter, open Network, select the wired connection, and use Configure Network if available.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the UnGeo Smart DNS servers were entered correctly. Then restart your Fire TV and reopen the streaming app.
