Apple TV 4K Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Apple TV 4K using the built-in tvOS network settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Register My IP Address

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open Apple TV Settings

From the Apple TV home screen, open Settings.

Open Network

Select Network to view your current internet connection. On some tvOS versions, you may need to open General first, then select Network.

Select Your Connection

Choose Wi-Fi if your Apple TV is connected wirelessly, or Ethernet if you are using a wired connection.

Select Your Wi-Fi Network

If you are using Wi-Fi, select your active Wi-Fi network from the list.

Open Configure DNS

Scroll down and select Configure DNS.

Change DNS to Manual

Change Configure DNS from Automatic to Manual.

Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS Server

Enter the primary server from your UnGeo Smart DNS servers list shown in the Client Area. If any DNS number group has fewer than three digits, add a leading zero before that group.

Save Your Changes

Select Done to save the new DNS settings.

Confirm Manual DNS

Make sure the DNS field now shows the UnGeo Smart DNS server you entered.

Open General Settings

Go back to Settings and open General.

Open Region

Select Region from the General settings menu.

Select United States

Choose United States as your Apple TV region.

Restart Apple TV

Go back to Settings, open System, and select Restart. On some tvOS versions, Restart may appear under General.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

Open Settings → Network, then select your active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Configure DNS should appear inside the connection settings.
Apple TV may require each DNS number group to contain three digits. If a group has fewer than three digits, add a leading zero before that group.
Make sure Configure DNS is set to Manual before entering the DNS address. After entering the address, select Done and restart Apple TV.
Apple TV app availability may depend on your Apple Account country or region. If an app is missing, you may need to use an Apple Account that matches the required App Store region.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the UnGeo Smart DNS server was entered correctly. Then restart Apple TV and reopen the streaming app.
