Sony Smart TV Smart DNS Setup Guide
Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Sony Smart TV using the built-in Google TV or Android TV network settings.
Before You Start
Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.
Don’t have an account yet?
Choose a plan and create your UnGeo account before setting up DNS.
Get Started ›Add your current IP address
Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.
Register My IP Address ›Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Open Sony TV Settings
Press the Home button on your Sony remote, then open Settings. On newer Google TV models, select the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner.
Go to Network & Internet
Open Network & Internet. On some Sony Android TV models, you may need to open Network first.
Select Your Connection
Choose your active Wi-Fi network or Ethernet connection, depending on how your Sony Smart TV is connected to the internet.
Open IP Settings
Find IP settings. If you do not see it immediately, open Advanced options or scroll down inside the active network settings.
Change IP Settings to Static
Change IP settings from DHCP or Automatic to Static. This allows you to enter DNS manually.
Keep Your Current Network Details
Keep the current IP address, Gateway, and Network prefix length values unchanged. Only change the DNS fields.
Enter Your UnGeo Smart DNS servers
In the DNS 1 field, enter the primary UnGeo Smart DNS server shown in your Client Area. If your TV shows DNS 2, enter the secondary UnGeo Smart DNS server.
Set Proxy to None
If your Sony TV asks for proxy settings, select None.
Save Your Changes
Select Save, Connect, or OK to apply the new network settings.
Restart Your Sony Smart TV
Turn your Sony Smart TV off and back on so the new DNS settings are applied.
You’re All Set!
Your Sony Smart TV is now ready to stream your favorite channels with UnGeo Smart DNS.
