Chrome OS Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Chromebook using the built-in Chrome OS network settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Check your UnGeo account

Make sure you have an active UnGeo account to use UnGeo Smart DNS.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Register My IP Address

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open Chrome OS Settings

Click the time/status area in the bottom-right corner, then click the Settings gear icon.

Go to Network

In Settings, open Network.

Choose Your Active Connection

Select the connection you are currently using, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Open Your Network Details

Click your active Wi-Fi or Ethernet network name to open its connection details.

Expand Network Options

Open the Network section if it is collapsed.

Change Name Servers

Find Name servers, then select Custom name servers.

Enter Your UnGeo DNS Servers

Enter the UnGeo DNS addresses shown in your Client Area into the custom DNS fields.

Save the Settings

Close the network settings panel. Chrome OS usually saves DNS changes automatically.

Reconnect Your Network

Disconnect and reconnect your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection so Chrome OS starts using the new DNS servers.

Your Chromebook is now ready to use UnGeo Smart DNS. Enjoy your favorite shows and channels.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

Make sure you opened the details page for your active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. The Name servers option is usually inside the Network section.
Click the Name servers drop-down and choose Custom name servers before entering UnGeo DNS addresses.
Make sure you entered the DNS addresses in the custom name server fields, then close the settings panel and reconnect to the network.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the DNS addresses were entered exactly as shown.
Managed Chrome OS devices may block DNS changes. If the settings are locked, contact the device administrator.

No. You can configure UnGeo Smart DNS directly in Chrome OS network settings.
