macOS Smart DNS Setup Guide

Follow this simple guide to set up UnGeo Smart DNS on your Mac using the built-in macOS network settings.

Before You Start

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure your UnGeo account is active and your current IP address is added in your Client Area. If that is already done, continue with the DNS setup below.

Check your UnGeo account

Make sure you have an active UnGeo account to use UnGeo Smart DNS.

Add your current IP address

Add your current IP address in the Client Area to allow UnGeo to work properly.

Register My IP Address

Once both are done, continue with the DNS setup steps.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

Open System Settings

Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen, then open System Settings.

Go to Network

In the sidebar, click Network.

Choose Your Active Connection

Select the connection you currently use, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

Open Connection Details

Click Details next to your active connection.

Open DNS Settings

In the left-side menu, select DNS.

Add Your UnGeo DNS Servers

Under DNS Servers, click the + button and enter the UnGeo DNS addresses shown in your Client Area.

Remove Old DNS Servers

If there are old or public DNS servers listed, remove them using the - button so your Mac uses only the UnGeo DNS servers.

Save Your Changes

Click OK or Done, then close the network settings window.

Restart Your Browser or Streaming App

Close and reopen your browser or streaming app so it starts using the new DNS settings.

Your Mac is now ready to use UnGeo Smart DNS. Enjoy your favorite shows and channels.

How to Check If It’s Working

Visit the UnGeo DNS Check page to verify whether your device is using UnGeo Smart DNS correctly.

Troubleshooting

On older macOS versions, open System Preferences instead. Then go to Network, select your connection, click Advanced, and open the DNS tab.
Make sure you selected your active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection first. On older macOS versions, the button may be called Advanced instead of Details.
You may need administrator permission, or your network may be managed by a work, school, VPN, or security profile. Try unlocking the settings or checking installed network profiles.
Make sure your UnGeo account is active, your current IP address is added in the Client Area, and the DNS addresses were entered exactly as shown.
Restart your browser or streaming app. If needed, disconnect and reconnect Wi-Fi, or restart your Mac to refresh the network configuration.
